Ministry experience

As an intern and then interim pastor in this ministry, I organized and led weekly adult Mandarin classes and activities throughout the year. I also provided live Mandarin translation during English services. 

As a newly married couple, Ashli and I had the opportunity to lead a Friday night college class, taught in both Mandarin and English. For 6 months, we built relationships within the Chinese Church and the international student community, providing college activities and retreats in addition to Bible studies. On a few occasions, I was given the opportunity to preach in the main Mandarin worship service. 

As an assistant pastor in a growing ministry, I had the opportunity to serve in a wide variety of ministry areas- including teaching, counseling, and overseeing. I was one of the primary leaders involved in developing policies, curriculum and management for new programs and ministries. I was able to personally lead several new programs from concept through integration via recruitment, training, and management. Areas of ministry overseen included: Missions, Outreach, Music, Technology, Young Adults, and Adult Connection Groups. 

As Chaplin, my primary goal was to build relationships in this tight-knit community. We received professional crisis intervention training that enabled us to provide specialized counseling along with pastoral/chaplain services. I witnessed hard men come to Christ and hearts softened toward God during this season.
